my cat looks like a glorious alphonso mango in my bedroom
“Green was the silence, wet was the light, the month of June trembled like a butterfly.” ― Pablo Neruda
i often abandon things for the fear of not doing them perfectly enough. this is also the reason for my blog posts being undeniably infrequent. but lately, i've been thinking about the joy of stumbling upon a past version of yourself that only exists in a blog post haphazardly written. i like finding people's personal websites on the internet. stuff like pictures of our daughter isobel¹ is far more precious to me to see on a webbed site rather than anywhere else.
either way, this post comes out of an hour's worth of stumbling upon people's lives on the internet and finding them remarkable², inspiring³, and wonderful⁴. here's a few things from my life since my last newsletter—
i. my friends and i now have a new group chat. they've been teaching me to relearn hope and determination.
ii. have you ever seen a beautiful curly-haired woman in the soft glow of a neighborhood park evening light when you're upside down on a swing? i have. sage visited last week & we took many three-hour naps together.
iii. i've now released my latest project, Water ⁵, which is a interactive short fiction game about grief, loss and absolution. i hope you like it.
iv. speaking of new things, i also have a brand new reviews⁶ page on my website. so many people have had so many nice things to say about me and my work. i love you all. (should you wish to write me a testimonial, please do so here⁷.)
v. i have an exam on the 24th, and miraculously my body has decided to go through every possible thing a body can go through— including a severe ibs attack resulting in an infection, and also period cramps as severe as they can get. the medicines for the former have also been making me ridiculously sleepy, which gets in the way of revision. but i persist, as one does.
i hope you've all been well! i have an exciting new project coming up involving historical audio and video, and i'm waiting on quite a bunch of emails. hopefully they'll make their way to my inbox, and hopefully this exam will go well, and hopefully my body will stitch itself back up and i can spend many beautiful monsoon days with my cat, studying and reading and making beautiful things.
sending all my love to you,
